Rainy Weekend Not Expected to Flood Susquehanna

SUNBURY (WKOK) – The Susquehanna River is bank full, but is expected to crest below flood stage Sunday night. The National Weather Service Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center says crests several feet below flood stage are expected over the weekend.

The river at Sunbury crested Thursday evening at 17.5 feet, and is receding now. It will rise to 18.3 feet, according to the river forecast center. No major flooding is expected, as the Susquehanna’s flood stage in this region is 20 feet. The Shikellamy State Park marina access road is closed because of water on the road. The Valley got over an inch of rain Friday.
