Montour County Participating in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
DANVILLE – Montour County is once again participating in the federal DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. They goal they say is to keep unwanted medications out of landfills and the environment, and out of the wrong hands.
Montour County District Attorney Angela Mattis along with County Detective and Drug Task Force Supervisor Ray Garringer are inviting everyone to bring their expired and/or unwanted medications to the Montour County Courthouse for disposal on Saturday, October 23 from 10am – 2pm.
They say they’ll take controlled, non-controlled and over-the-counter medications. The DA says service is free, anonymous and they note that medications are accepted with no questions asked.
Mattis says improper disposal of prescription medication can result in not only illegal use but also contamination of the environment. Last October, Americans turned in over 492 tons of prescription drugs at sites operated by the DEA and its state and local law enforcement partners.
