Republican Attorney has Democratic Nomination for Judge
UNION COUNTY – “It’s easy for any candidate to say they’re qualified,” at least, that’s the way Attorney Brian Kerstetter of Lewisburg sees the race for the bench of the Seventeenth Judicial District in Snyder and Union counties. He says he actually is, and has a long legal background to prove it.
Kerstetter said he opened his private practice in 1999 and currently serves as part-time Snyder County Assistant District Attorney while representing the Snyder and Union County Domestic Relations offices, various municipalities, the Pennsylvania Towing Association and numerous local businesses.
“I really became familiar with the law, the rules of evidence and the rules of procedure that judges are bound to follow in the Court of Common Pleas. In my private practice, I’ve done just about everything that a common pleas judge would hear.”
He says he is backed by 27 other attorneys who have witnessed his decades of work in family and criminal law, as well as the Pennsylvania State Troopers’ Association, Union County DA D. Peter Johnson and Lycoming County DA Ryan Gardner.
“I would encourage the voters to talk to people who work with me on a daily basis – courtroom staff, other attorneys – and ask them what they feel about my temperament, my integrity and my ability to make good, sound decisions in the courtroom.”
Kerstetter will be on the ticket as a Democrat November 2, even though he says he is a Republican at heart. Both candidates cross-filed in the primaries.
