SUNBURY – With the Democratic National Convention steadily approaching, a delegate is gearing up for the coming week. Dwayne Heisler was a telephone guest on WKOK’s On The Mark Program Friday.
Heisler, a 2016 Bernie Sanders delegate, said he is honored to attend the event, “The convention starts on Monday. The starting time is at 3:00 and on Monday, the first feature speakers are going to be First Lady Michelle Obama and Senator Bernie Sanders and then the schedule goes on from there. I’m really looking forward to participating fully. I’m excited about recent changes that made to the Democratic platform and I’m just thrilled to be a part of it all.”
After watching the Republican National Convention, Heisler says is 100% sure he knows which party he’s voting for. “There is no doubt in mind that I’m voting for a Democrat in November. It’s so easy after watching last night’s speech and watching the Republican National Convention. And actually reading, if people would take the time to read the platforms and what the party’s stand for, it’s very clear that I’m behind the Democratic Party.”
Heisler is highly encouraging individuals to watch the DNC next week in order to learn more about the party’s platform and ideas, “I think that if people take the time to tune into the Democratic Convention, you’ll see a real contrast with what is being proposed and if people would like more information it’s easy enough to look at the platform and find it online. It takes one Google search and you’ll have it. It’s an open book. I welcome anyone who’s interested in helping out. I knocked on over 5,000 doors last year and I know we have our work cut out for us in the T, which is the middle of Pennsylvania, and we’re looking for people to help.”
