$1 Million Water Line Upgrade Begins in Northumberland County

MILTON – Some utility work in and around Northumberland.

Pennsylvania American Water has begun a $1 million project to replace about 4,000 feet of water mains in Northumberland Borough and Point Township. The upgrades will improve water reliability, reduce service disruptions, and enhance firefighting capabilities.

The water company says work has already started on Queen Street, where 2,400 feet of old pipes are being replaced with new eight-inch mains. Once completed, crews will move to Strawbridge Road to replace a 1,500-foot section of water line. The project is expected to wrap up by July, with final paving scheduled for fall.

Customers may experience temporary water interruptions, discolored water, or low-pressure during construction. For safety reasons, they urge the public to avoid approaching work crews.  Pennsylvania American Water Company says they invested $675 million statewide in 2024 on water and wastewater improvements.
