SELINSGROVE – Big money is heading to Susquehanna University to help grow the number of students enrolled in science fields. According to a news release, the National Science Foundation awarded SU a nearly $1 million grant to recruit and graduate students in physics, chemistry and biology.
The funding supports SU’s program, Developing Intensive Opportunities in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. In addition, the university will establish an innovative tele-mentoring program with alumni and other professional that will generate new knowledge.
The funding will also increase internship and new employment opportunities for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) students. This is the third significant grant awarded to SU from the National Science Foundation in recent years.
