Woman ID’d After Boat Capsized on River

POINT TOWNSHIP — A 37-year-old woman died following a boating incident in the Susquehanna River on Saturday night.
The Daily item reports that Minersville resident Melissa Cummings was pronounced dead at 10:19 p.m. at Evangelical Hospital, in Lewisburg, by Union County Coroner Dominick Adamo.
Emergency responders were first called for a water rescue on the Susquehanna River around 7:50 p.m..  Responders made their way to Silo Lane, Union Township, Union County for
reports of a capsized boat with a man and a woman in the water.
Crews from Union and Northumberland counties used water rescue boats in the search and located the man quickly. Then around 9:10 p.m., rescue crews located the woman and began life-saving measures, officials said.
The woman was taken to Evangelical Hospital and later pronounced dead. Adamo said the cause of death was accidental.
