HARRISBURG – Some Union County bridges are on the replacement list.
Monday, PennDOT unveiled a $51 million investment from Pennsylvania’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, aimed at supporting 66 essential transportation projects across 32 counties. Eight of the projects are in our Valley:
n The Union County Planning and Economic Development department will receive $1.4M to replace six municipally owned bridges in the County. The bridges are New Berlin, and White Deer, Hartley, West Buffalo Township, and Lewis Townships.
n Muncy was awarded $123,000 for the rehabilitation of the Carpenter Street Bridge.
n Jersey Shore– $700,000 for culvert and roadway improvements to Hazel Alley Bridge and roadway improvements from the Pine Creek Rail Trail to the boat launch at the Susquehanna River West Branch.
PennDOT says the funding will help maintain a secure and efficient transportation network statewide. Numerous projects they say will assist municipalities in addressing critical bridge and road repairs.
