NORTHUMBERLAND — Two Hanover Street homes in the borough of Northumberland were damaged by a 2nd alarm fire Monday night. The Daily Item reports that Deputy Fire Chief Brian Ginck, said the fire started at 174 Hanover St. at about 7 p.m. Monday and quickly spread to 168 Hanover St., an adjacent house located about 10 feet away. There were two residents in each of the homes who were able to escape. Fire companies from surrounding communities including East End Fire Company from Danville joined the Northumberland Fire Department and other first responders at the scene. A state police fire marshall will investigate to try to determine the cause of the Monday night fire.
