Conductor Dr. William Payn describes the music, “We’re going to be performing two symphonic masses. We call it Symphonic Masses-Past and Present because the first part of the program will feature Schubert’s Mass in G. Then the second half of the program will be a work written by a 21st century, Norwegian composer call Sunrise Mass.”

The show will include the chorale’s 120 singers as well as three Valley soloists, “We have three local soloists that are members of the chorale. Amy Caron is our soprano soloist. She’s from Selinsgrove. Adam Dietz, who is from Middleburg, is our tenor soloist. Andrew Finck also taught at Midd-West high School. He just recently moved to New Jersey, but he’s coming back to perform.”

The concert will take place at Midd-West High School in Middleburg. Payn says he’s looking forward to performing in their new facility, “Midd-West High School has built a new facility within the past few years. The auditorium is beautiful and the acoustics are great. It seats 800 people or more. It’s like a concert hall.”

The Susquehanna Valley Chorale will perform at the Midd-West High School on Saturday, October 15 at 7:30 p.m and Sunday, October 16 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets cost $20 and can be purchased online at www.svcmusic.org. Dr. William Payn was a recent guest on WKOK Sunrise. You can listen to more from his interview online at www.wkok.com. (Alex Reichenbach)
