LEWISBURG — The Standard Journal is reporting… More than 120 students came together at The Miller Center for the launch of The Community Giving Foundation’s Youth in Philanthropy program. Organizers say the initiative, now in its 22nd year, teaches high school students how to identify community needs and award grants to nonprofits.
Students from schools across five counties will research issues like mental health, food insecurity, and homelessness. Foundation director Alyssa Meyers-Sanonu says this year’s expansion to 20 school groups will allow students to distribute about $100,000 in grants supporting youth-focused community projects.
