SUNBURY – State officials kicked off National Library Week with a visit to Sunbury. Pennsylvania Department of Education Executive Deputy Secretary Angela Fitterer and Deputy Secretary Susan Banks visited the Degenstein Community Library Wednesday. There, they presented the library with a proclamation for National Library Week.
Since 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.
State officials also recognized Governor Josh Shapiro’s budget proposal including $4.2 billion for a new Public Library Facilities Improvement Fund, for small, rural public libraries needing minor repairs and improvements.
