Shikellamy Debuting ‘Tuck Everlasting’ to Valley This Weekend

SUNBURY – Wrapping up the high school spring musical season this year, the Shikellamy High School Theatre is debuting a new musical to The Valley this weekend. Shikellamy presents ‘Tuck Everlasting’ at 7pm Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and 2pm Sunday.

Shikellamy Director of Theater and Forensics Ellen Boyer, “ It’s based on a beautiful children’s novel by Natalie Babbitt. The show ran for a short stint on Broadway. Disney made a movie out of the book. But it is The Valley premiere of this musical, so everybody gets the chance to see something brand new.”

She says the show features lots of dancing and different time frames. In the show, the Tuck family is traveling and along the way finds a magical spring from to drink from, leaving 11-year-old Whinnie Foster with a big decision, “Does she live forever, or does she live a life rich and full with all of its experiences? That’s the perplexing question. Lots of humor, its very family-friendly oriented.”

The cast includes Jayla Lopez, a junior who plays Whinnie Foster, Angel Maisonette, a senior who plays 17-year-old Jesse Tuck, and Micah Shively, a sophomore who plays ‘The Man in Yellow.’

Tickets will be available at the door, but can be purchased in advance by calling 570-286-3760 or email boyere@shikbraves.org. Premium seats are $12 and standard seats are $10.

You can hear more about the show and the cast on the WKOK.com Podcast Page or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Also, this weekend, Montgomery High School presents ‘Wedding Singer’ Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
