Shikellamy Braves Foundation Looking to Help ‘Caring for Kids’

SUNBURY – It’s Giving Tuesday, and the Shikellamy Braves Foundation is ‘calling for contributions’ so it can provide funding for the district’s Caring for Kids Program. The program gives students food for the weekend.

Foundation Chairman Steve Engle, “Volunteers of this program would provide food items that the kids could take home in their backpacks on Friday. People involved with Caring for Kids felt they could help by providing food for not just their student, but their students’ family.”

Engle says the program has been struggling recently and needs the public’s help, “They have now gone to a system where they must purchase food, rather than have it all donated. So they’re concerned that they may not have enough money to provide food for kids throughout the school year. So the Braves Foundation members all agree that this is a project that we can support.”

To make a donation, checks can be sent to the Office of the Superintendent of the Shikellamy School District, 200 Island Boulevard, Sunbury, PA 17801. You can also donate via credit card at a link that can be found on the Shikellamy Braves Foundation’s Facebook page.

Giving Tuesday is a day celebrated globally on the last Tuesday of November to provide support to nonprofit and charitable organizations.
