Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver ‘Interested’ in State Senate Run

SUNBURY – Following State Senator John Gordner’s (R-27th, Berwick) resignation announcement Monday, one of the Valley’s current state representatives says she’s considering a run for the open seat.

State Representative Lynda Schelgel Culver (R-108th, Sunbury) tells WKOK she’s ‘interested,’ in running, saying, ‘I’d be crazy not to be.’ But Culver says she needs to talk with her family first before making any decisions.

For now, Culver says this time should be about Senator Gordner and what he’s done for the area. Culver says Gordner ‘has always been generous and accessible’ to everyone. For her personally, Culver says Gordner’ has always been so kind and a dear friend.’

Culver says the Lieutenant Governor’s office has 10 days after accepting Gordner’s resignation to decide if a special election is needed. If there is one, a special election cannot occur sooner than 60 days.
