More Information on Multi-State Crime Spree and Arrest

LEWISBURG – More information is out today about a multi-state crime spree and a Michigan man arrested for burglary, car theft and kidnapping.

State police say Amos Mushatt of Michigan visited our area January 15, broke into a local car dealership in Lewisburg area, then broke into a bank nearby.

Troopers now say his juvenile daughter, who he allegedly kidnapped, was with him and participated in the crimes.

Troopers say they were first dispatched to First National Bank in Kelly Township, Union County for a burglary alarm. They say Mushatt stole $775 in coins from the bank by using a large rock to gain entry.

Troopers say then after they searched the area, they found out he also burglarized Blaise Alexander Chrysler Dodge Jeep of Lewisburg on Route 15. At the dealership, troopers say he used a stolen work van to drive into the front doors, and then stole an SUV to use for the bank burglary.

Troopers say Mushatt was later apprehended in Ohio while operating the stolen vehicle and in possession of the bank money. He remains incarcerated in Ohio pending extradition, and he faces two sets of charges for each burglary. Troopers say his daughter was safely returned to a family member.

Here’s our first story about this from January 16.
