GIANT, CSO, Geisinger, Cut Ribbon on Mobile Food Pantry

DANVILLE – The GIANT, Geisinger, M&T Bank, CSO Mobile Food Pantry was back in Danville Tuesday for an official ribbon cutting. The trailer has already made stops in Berwick, Coal Township and Danville, it provides fresh food, healthy choices and an opportunity for families to get information and other aid.

Nancy Lawton Kluck, Chief Philanthropy Officer, Geisinger Foundation said, GIANT, M&T, Geisinger and the CSO are getting the credit but, “I would say that there are hundreds of other people outside of those organizations that are also included in making things happen. There are volunteers at the food bank, there is the interns that come from Bucknell University, there’s so many others that are part of this work, so it’s really the community that’s coming together.”

The goal of the Mobile Food Pantry is to address food insecurity. GIANT Company contributed the biggest gift, $600,000 to make the entire project happen. M & T Bank is also a contributor. The pantry will make monthly visits to the Welsh Center in Coal Township, the Ber-Vaughn Park in Berwick and the Danville Area Community Center.  More information at csocares.org.
