POTTS GROVE – East Chillisquaque Township is, for now, ending its relationship with a nearby fire company.
In a news release, township supervisors announced they decertified the Potts Grove Fire Company and its Quick Response Squad from providing emergency services in the township. They say the fire company hasn’t kept up with its bylaws nor certain state and federal requirements. The township says the township residents’ safety is their primary concern.
Supervisors say the Milton Fire Department will be the new provider of fire and emergency services for the township – Milton Borough approved the measure during Wednesday night’s public meeting.
The township says Potts Grove Fire Company will be given a year or longer, if required, to meet those standards – Those include meeting all required certifications for reach tactical officer position based on its by-laws and current state and federal requirements. They are also required to have child abuse and state police clearances. The fire company must also make public their operating guidelines and a Department of Health Quick Response License.
The township says it hopes the fire company can be reinstated.
We’ve reached out to Potts Grove Fire Company for comment and we’ll have their response in a future news story.
