Coal spilled in head on crash on Route 54

COAL TOWNSHIP – Route 54 was closed for six hours following a crash Tuesday in Northumberland County.  The Daily Item reports the head on collision involved an SUV and a tractor trailer hauling coal, which spilled across the road.

The accident took place around 8 a.m. between Bear Gap and Natalie.  Traffic was detoured in both directions while the coal was cleared from the road.

The Daily Item reports the driver of the SUV was treated and released from Geisinger.  He was identified as 26-year-old Tyler Kruskie of Atlas.  The driver of the tractor trailer was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
