Church Installs Solar Panels on their Roof in Lewisburg

LEWISBURG – In Lewisburg, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church hopes to set an example for clean energy in the region with a new solar project that completely offsets its electricity use.

The church installed 52 rooftop solar panels in August 2023, eliminating about 20 tons of carbon emissions each year while saving approximately $3,000 annually on utility bills.

Church leaders, local officials, and environmental advocates gathered for a tour of the solar array, organized by PennEnvironment, to highlight the benefits of solar power for houses of worship. They hope the project will inspire other churches and nonprofits across Pennsylvania to make the switch to renewable energy.
