CDC: Montour County Still ‘High’ COVID Transmission

ATLANTA – Over half of Pennsylvania’s counties are experiencing rises in COVID transmission, including one Valley county still with ‘high’ levels. The CDC reported Friday Montour County remains in the ‘high’ category of COVID-19 for the third straight week. Montour now has a percent positivity rate of 11.22%. Overall, 23 Pennsylvania counties are now listed with ‘high’ transmission levels.

Union, Snyder and Northumberland counties are still listed as having a ‘medium’ rate of spread of COVID-19. Union’s percent positivity rate is 10.71%, Northumberland is 8.56%, and Snyder is 5.59%. The CDC says 17 total counties are listed as ‘medium.’

The CDC also says 27 Pennsylvania counties remain in the ‘low’ category for COVID spread.

In its weekly update Wednesday, the state Department of Health recorded nearly 28,000 new statewide cases in the past week with 336 Valley cases, and statewide hospitalizations are back up to over 1,100.
