DANVILLE – Geisinger has officially designated its Danville Stewardship Forest, located behind the Geisinger Medical Center campus, as an archery-only hunting area starting this hunting season.
This new designation will apply going forward, ensuring a safe environment around the hospital for staff, patients, and visitors.
In partnership with the Pennsylvania Game Commission, Geisinger explored options that balance the popularity of game hunting with campus safety. The designation also brings the property in line with state guidelines for hunting near sensitive sites like hospital campuses.
The Stewardship Forest will remain open to the public for hiking and biking, while being marked for archery hunting only as part of the Game Commission’s Hunter Access Program, that program involves voluntary agreements for private landowners to allow hunting, but the owner remains in control of the land. This archery-only policy is now in effect for the 2024 hunting season.
