HARRISBURG – Another change at the head of Pennsylvania’s Department of Health. Governor Tom Wolf announced Monday Acting Secretary of Health Keara Klinepeter is resigning her position this Friday. The govenrnor says he’ll then name Physician General Dr. Denise Johnson as the new Acting Secretary.
Prior to Acting Secretary, Klinepeter served as the Executive Deputy Secretary for the Department of Health under former Acting Secretary Alison Beam, and as Special Advisor to the Secretary of Health, where she worked extensively on COVID-19 response.
Governor Wolf called Klinepeter an asset to the administration, providing necessary leadership and guidance to prepare for the endemic phase of the pandemic.
Dr. Johnson says she’s honored to lead the department during this time and looks forward to continuing to work closely with the tremendous employees at the Department of Health and ensuring health remains a top priority throughout the commonwealth.
