Former Mount Carmel Football Player Files Hazing Lawsuit

MOUNT CARMEL – The News Item is reporting… A man who says he was hazed by some members of the Mount Carmel high school football team has filed a more than one million dollar lawsuit.

Michael Reed is suing in federal court, he says members of the 2020 high school football team left him with burns and injuries during an incident during a football game watch  party.

The News Item reports, the suit names players Damon Dowkus, Tyler Owens, Reed Witkoski and Julien Stellar, along with Witkoski’s parents and 10 unnamed individuals on allegations of negligence, assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and other counts.

Reed says he hopes to hold the defendants responsible for the hazing incidents that led the PA Attorney General charging four adults and five juvenile members of the team.

Reed also claims that the School District and “failed in its most basic legal and moral duties” and did not conduct an independent investigation into the incident.
