Girls on The Run Looking for More Coaches, Teams

More Coaches, Teams Sought for Girls on the Run

SELINSGROVE – Girls on the Run Mid State PA continues inspiring girls across the area, but are still looking to expand.

Program Coordinator for Central Pennsylvania Rachael Murphy says volunteers are still needed, including coaches, especially for next fall, “It’s typically twice a week after school, so anyone with a flexible schedule who wants to help inspire girls, you don’t have to be a runner, you don’t have to be an athlete, you just have to care for girls and wanna give them a safe environment to learn and grow.”

The program is for girls in third through eighth grade, teaching them important life skills and building self-esteem.

Murphy says their program reaches across nine counties in Central Pennsylvania and are always welcoming more teams, “Our northern most team right now is Benton, and our southern most team is all the way down to Mifflin County. We got out to Centre County, and we go over to Bloomsburg. So if you see yourself anywhere in that window, or even a little outside of it, and you’re interested in starting a program, you can reach out and we’re happy to talk to anyone.”

Girls on the Run is also gearing up for their upcoming 5K race April 29th, as well as their summer program.
