SUNBURY – After a public meeting, Northumberland County Republican conferees picked Mike Stender of Sunbury to be their nominee for the vacant 108th District State House. The seat is vacant after the resignation of former house member Lynda Schlegel Culver (27th, Sunbury). She is now a state senator. The election will be held May 16th. No Democratic nomiee has been selected yet.

Stender Selected As The Republican Nominee For The 108th House District Special Election
SUNBURY, PA – Michael Stender Jr. has been selected as the Republican Nominee for the 108th State House District Special Election. The 108th District Special Election will be held on May 16, 2023, coinciding with the Municipal Primary.
“I am honored to be the Republican nominee for the 108th State House District Special Election,” said Stender. “In the coming weeks, I will be traveling the district to hear from citizens and earn their vote.”
“Michael Stender is ready to fight for all citizens residing in the 108th District,” said Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Lawrence Tabas. “Michael will bring a unique background to the State House as a first responder and will work tirelessly for the people of Montour and Northumberland Counties. Michael will get things done and our party looks forward to working hard to elect Michael Stender to the State House.”

The State House Special Election will fill the seat recently vacated by Lynda Schlegel-Culver, who resigned after winning the Special Election for the 27th State Senate District in January. The 108th Legislative District encompasses all of Montour county, as well as parts of Northumberland County.
