HERNDON – Route 225 in lower Northumberland County back open at Schwaben Creek Road. The crash happened in Jackson Township, Northumberland County.
Northumberland County 9-1-1 tells us there was a one car crash around 2:30am, a car hit pole and that brought down some wires. The vehicle then caught fire and was engulfed when the first volunteers got there.
Now PennDOT and PPL are on the scene, a detour is posted and we’re told the road will remain closed for several hours. Here is PennDOT’s advisory, “Motorists are advised that Route 225 is closed in both directions between Route 3008 (Cherry Town Road) and Route 3010 (Schwaben Creek Road) in Jackson Township, Northumberland County due to a crash with downed utilities. A detour using Schwaben Creek Road is in place. The roadway is expected to be closed for several hours.”
No injuries were reported.
9-1-1 tells us, volunteers from Herndon, Dalmatia, Hickory Corners, and Pillow were on the scene until about 4:15am. EMS from Dauphin County also responded.
