Valley Conservation Projects Awarded Big State Funding

HARRISBURG – The state DEP is awarding $3.5 million in funding from the Growing Greener Plus Program for 11 conservation projects in north central Pennsylvania.

The DEP announced this week $1.5 million will go toward to three projects in our area:

  • Over $689,000 to Chesapeake Conservancy, Inc. to implement farm restoration projects in the region for the streambank and other improvements of impaired waterways.
  • Nearly $350,000 to Montour County Conservation District for its Bogart Barnyard/Manure Storage project
  • $548,000 to Kulpmont Borough, Northumberland County, for its stormwater retrofit and stream restoration project
  • $361,000 to Lewisburg Borough to develop Piers Art Park by constructing an outdoor stage, parking area, pedestrian walkways and stormwater management measures; installing lighting and utilities; and enhancing ADA access.
