SELINSGROVE– The Richard King Mellon Foundation awarded Susquehanna University a $625,000 grant to support their Freshwater Research Institute. The institute helps to improve the health of the Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay.
Institute Director Matt Wilson says they bring together faculty and students and conservation partners to conduct research that addresses ecological problems facing the two waterways. University President Jonathan Green says this grant will allow the school to build upon the history of success they’ve had so far with the initative. The two-year grant will allow Susquehanna to do more research, develop a data-sharing platform, and get more students involved in the project.
