Storms hit The Valley, damage reported

SUNBURY – Sunbury’s Reagan Street underpass flooded, hundreds of PPL customers lost power, and trees were blown down. That was some of the damage from strong thunderstorms that crossed our region Tuesday afternoon.

1 to 2 inches of rain, hail and strong winds accompanied the late afternoon thunderstorms. Rain gauge reports showed 3/4” at the Penn Valley Airport in Selinsgrove and 2.59” at the Williamsport Regional Airport. Today, only one PPL customer in the Kratzerville region of Snyder County is without power. Several traffic accidents occurred during the storms—no details out yet on those mishaps.
