Shikellamy Superintendent not returning, permanent replacement search ongoing

SUNBURY – Shikellamy School District Superintendent Brett Misavage, who’s been on a health related sabbatical, will not be returning to Shikellamy. Interim Superintendent Dr. Thomas Scholvin tells us it’s the school board’s “understanding” Misavage will not return when his two-year sabbatical ends.

The Shikellamy School Board in June last year approved Misavage’s sabbatical leave for restoration of health.

Dr. Scholvin says he will continue to serve in the interim until a permanent hire is made. He says the board hopes to have a permanent superintendent by July 1. So far, no candidates have been identified for the permanent position. Dr. Scholvin was brought in as interim Superintendent in November after the resignation of interim Dr. James Hartman.

In other district personnel news, Dr. Scholvin says the school board accepted the resignation of board member Kellie Cianflone. He says there are some applicants for the school board position, and the board is considering other names as well, including past board members, to fill the position.
