LEWISBURG – The highly anticipated renovation of the Lewisburg McDonald’s will finally get underway this week. The renovation project was originally supposed to begin in December, but Owner/Operator Jason Rippon says some factors delayed the project to this month.
Rippon said he actually requested McDonald’s Corporation to delay the project due to weather, though the plans were already approved by Kelly Township and the contractor was ready. Rippon says some McDonald’s Corporation restructuring also played a factor in the delay.
McDonald’s will close its doors for the renovation at 3 p.m. February 14. That day will be drive-thru service only. The indoor restaurant’s last day will be February 13.
An auction will be held Saturday at the location to sell everything in the store before demolition preparation begins February 18. The actual demolition date is still to be determined, but Rippon says he expects it to occur within 10 days.
Rippon says current Lewisburg employees will be transferred to the Mifflinburg or Milton McDonald’s until renovations are complete. He says he expects the Lewisburg location to reopen June 1. More info about what the new location will look like at WKOK.com.
