Danville meth fire has man critical

DANVILLE – A Danville man who was severely burned in a meth lab explosion is now in critical condition. According to The Daily Item, a Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest spokeswoman says Michael Mowrer Jr., who is in his mid-20s, is critical condition after the explosion caused a fire Tuesday morning.

The explosion sparked a fire at a home in the 300 block of Chamber Street in Danville. Danville police tell the paper Mowrer and 33-year-old Richard McHugh were making meth at the time. Mowrer does not live at the home where the explosion occurred.

McHugh has already been arrested and charged and is in Montour County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail. A 15-year-old boy was also present at the time, and Children and Youth Services are getting involved. The Daily Item says charges are expected to be filed against Mowrer as well.
