Did you know that all farms generating/using manure must have a manure management plan to be in compliance with PA state Law? This includes anyone who has horse or hobby farms. Did you know Bay Compliance inspections are being conducted in Northumberland County? Are you prepared? Don’t miss this free opportunity!
The Northumberland County Conservation District can help you learn the regulations and write your plan. Our goal is to send you on your way with a complete plan in hand. The District is holding a series of free workshops to assist with manure management plan writing. FOUR full day (8 am – 4 pm) workshops will be held at the NCCD Environmental Education Center at 441 Plum Creek Road, Sunbury, on Feb. 22, March 1, March 8, and March 15. Similar half day (8 am – 12 pm) workshops will be held on March 25 at Rovendale Ag & Barn in Watsontown, and March 29 at the UDSA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Lab in Klingerstown.
The main focus of the full day workshops will be providing assistance on writing Manure Management Plans. Some information on Agricultural Erosion and Sedimentation (Ag E&S) requirements will be available.
Attendees will receive a copy of the Manure Management Manual. One-on-one assistance will be available, and attendees will leave the workshop with a completed Manure Management Plan.
Light refreshments will be provided. REGISTRATION FOR THESE EVENTS ARE FREE BUT REQUIRED ONE WEEK PRIOR TO YOUR PREFERRED WORKSHOP DATE.
Please contact the Northumberland County Conservation District at (570) 495-4665 ext. 304 to register by phone or email [email protected] with your name, address, which workshop you would like to attend, and preferred time of day.
Financial support for this project is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection through the Chesapeake Bay Implementation Grant and the Clean Water Fund.
