SHAMOKIN DAM – The eastern alternative for the southern section of the CSVT is a go. PennDOT Assistant Plans Engineer Matt Beck made that announced during Friday’s Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee meeting.
He says the environmental clearances for the eastern alternative have been finalized. With that, PennDOT can advance with final design, and also create the final project schedule. Beck says those finished plans could be announced as early as next month.
The eastern alternative has been PennDOT’s preferred choice, saying it meets traffic needs and has the least impact on homes, farms, and is less noisy. It will also avoid the PPL fly ash basins in Shamokin Dam and Monroe Township at the Route 61 connector.
