Danville school board and borough agree on soccer/PD trade

DANVILLE – An exchange of property between the Danville Area School District and the Borough of Danville will lead to a new police station and more soccer fields. Both sides approved the agreement at their meetings Tuesday.

Danville School District Superintendent Dr. Jason Bendle tells us the district will lease 20 acres of farmland across from the Danville Primary School for practice athletic fields. The district will lease the land for 99 years and pay just over $34,000 each year for 15 years. The borough will receive two-thirds of the vacant lot at the former Danville Elementary School on Front Street, that will be space for the new police station. The school building itself remains for sale.
