LEWISBURG – At the Lewisburg Federal Penitentiary, all inmate and staff movement has been restricted after a positive case of COVID-19 was discovered in an inmate Thursday.
In a lengthy notice to inmates, USP Lewisburg officials say many programs and opportunities for the inmates are curtailed. The maximum security penitentiary has one positive case, but the minimum security portion of the facility does not have any. No staff cases are reported and more COVID-19 tests are still pending.
Officials say until further notice, all inmates will remain in their housing units, expect to go to food service or selected work details. Access to the administration building will also be restricted. Inmates will be medically screened as well, including daily temperature checks.
